Milanos Metals & Recycling is a fourth generation, family-owned and operated company. The company was founded as Shapiro Brothers in 1920 by Harry Shapiro, led by Leon Shapiro from 1946 – 1967, and relocated to Mt. Vernon IL by Gino Federici, Leon’s son-in-law. Gino’s children assumed ownership and management in 2006 and renamed the company Milano Metals and Recycling, in honor of the family’s Italian heritage.
Milano Metals is a full-service iron & metal recycler, serving industrial, commercial, and retail clients. We purchase ferrous and non-ferrous scrap at competitive prices, and provide scrap management, asset recovery, and demolition services. We are strategically located with a private railyard at the intersection of three rail lines (NS, UP & EVWR). Our scales are certified by the state of Illinois.
Our deep industry experience, financial integrity, and quality service have positioned us as the regional leader in scrap metal services; while our unique location gives us strategic access to different markets by rail. As a trusted name in the industry, Milano Metals stands ready to serve your scrap metal needs.
