Midwest Waste Services began collecting waste in July 2011 in Wichita County, Texas. By putting the customer first and charging affordable rates, MSW’s Wichita Falls Division has quickly grown and now serves rural residences and business in Wichita, Archer, Montague, Jack and Clay Counties and serves as the exclusive service provider for waste management services in the towns of Scotland and Windthorst, Texas. MWS recently opened a new division in the Fort Worth area and now serves homes and businesses in Tarrant, Parker and Wise Counties. While MSW is a relatively new company, its four owners and officers have over 40 years of collective experience in the waste management industry. Below is a brief biography of each owner.
Beth A. Sweet. A business owner of International Boring Inc. and management member of Western Supplies Inc., Mrs. Sweet brings over 30 years of business experience. Since 1995, Mrs. Sweet has owned and operated International Boring, Inc. a Wichita Falls manufacturing business (“IBI”). Along with owning and operating IBI she has worked the past 30 years at Western Supplies Inc. serving the last two decades in management for the company. In addition to her professional duties, Mrs. Sweet is actively involved in the community on various boards which include Christ Academy Board of Trustees, where she serves as treasurer. Other boards include the Wichita County 4-H Association Board of Directors and past boards of American Cancer Society and the Senior Citizen Center in Iowa Park.
Jeffrey K. Watts. From 2001 until 2010, Mr. Watts served as the Municipal Manager for IESI’s Northwest Texas District servicing over twenty counties in Texas and Oklahoma. Mr. Watts is a member of the Sheppard Military Affairs Committee and the Wichita Falls Metropolitan Planning Committee. He is on the board of the Industrial Development Corporation and the Community Development Corporation in Iowa Park. He is a Board Member of Wichita Valley Water Supply Corporation and serves as Secretary of the Wichita County Appraisal District. For the last fifteen years, he has also served on the board of State National Bank of Texas and the IPCISD school board.
John J. Zook. Mr. Zook has 20 years of experience in the solid waste industry. For the past two years he has managed the Shoosmith Bros., Inc landfill located in the Richmond, Virginia area. He spent the prior ten years as a Division Manager in IESI’s Northwest Texas District. While with IESI he was involved in all facets of the business. He managed the three IESI landfills in the region as well as oversight of the four solid waste Transfer Stations. During his time with IESI he was responsible for constructing the division budgets and strategic plan for the region. Mr. Zook also served as Division Manager for the Southern Oklahoma Division of IESI. He was responsible for the collection of waste for 6,000 homes and over 500 commercial customers. Prior to joining IESI, Mr. Zook spent 8 years working for Waste Management in various capacities. Before leaving Waste Management to join IESI, he was responsible for three landfill gas collection systems in the Dallas, Texas area.
W. Kent Durham. A practicing attorney and managing member of Durham & Galindo, PLLC, Mr. Durham brings over 9 years of solid waste experience. Since 2008, Mr. Durham has served on the Board of Directors of Virginia Waste Services, Inc. (“VWS”), a solid waste collection company located near Richmond, Virginia, and Shoosmith Bros., Inc (“Shoosmith”)., which owns a solid waste landfill also located near Richmond, Virginia. Since forming Durham & Galindo, PLLC, he has also actively represented VWS and Shoosmith in a variety of legal matters as well as other prominent waste management companies such as Waste Pro USA, Inc., a large, privately-owned waste management company based in Florida and operating throughout the Southeastern United States.
Residential Service offers customers curbside collection of solid waste from 95 gallon carts. MWS provides the carts to customers which are designed to be compatible with our rear load collections vehicles.
Commercial Services are ideal for multi-family, office, restaurant, retail, shopping mall and
manufacturing businesses. MWS will provide metal containers ranging in size from 2 cubic yards to 3 cubic yards, with weekly pick-up.
Contractor roll-off services are provided with open-top containers ranging in size from 10 cubic yards to 40 cubic yards. This service is available to both residential and commercial customers. Simply provide 24- hour advance notice of disposal need.
