Midwest Cellular Recycling is a full service solution to responsibly dispose of used or end of life cellular devices. We collaborate with retail stores, corporations, k-12 schools, universities, non for profit organizations, state and local governments and many other sources to properly recycle cellular devices. Unlike most cellular recycling companies we first attempt to reuse and re-purpose any possible part of the cellular equipment. This even includes aging devices most companies shred immediately for the small amount of precious metals inside. Only after every possibility for reuse is explored do we proceed to break the devices down to salvageable plastic and metals.
The United States currently has over 290 million wireless users. These users continuously upgrade or damage devices leaving an estimated 500 million used or end of life cell phones in homes and offices around the country. Each month another 8-10 million phones are discarded at this time. Unfortunately the majority of discarded cell phones in the United States end up in landfills. One cell phone can pollute up to 35,000 gallons of ground water leaching at least eight toxic elements.
