Metfer Srl began in 1992 with the foundation of the company by Mr. Michele Montrone with the intention of continuing the traditional activity started by his father way back in 1973. Today Metfer Srl has become the leading plant in the Province of Trieste and its surroundings for the recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap.

The Metfer Srl plant covers approximately 5500 m2 in the industrial area of ​​Trieste. The plant is authorized to store and process waste consisting of ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap in order to make them compliant to become "End of Waste" (No more waste) pursuant to European Regulations 333/2011 and 715/ 2013 and Legislative Decree 152/2006 as amended or Secondary Raw Material for the metallurgical industry pursuant to Ministerial Decree 02/05/1998. The plant is also authorized to process WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and to collect other waste such as paper, plastic, glass, wood and tyres.

In recent years the management has decided to direct its efforts to achieve the UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 environmental certification and UNI EN ISO 9001:2008 quality certification as a fundamental tool for better organizational management and a reduction of environmental impacts. In recent months, a safety management system has also been implemented according to the OHSAS 18001 standard, the certification of which was obtained in 2014.
