A true One Stop Shop for Aerospace incorporating Heat Treatment, Non-Destructive Testing, Finishing, Plating, Finish Painting through Part Mark and Package, for Aluminum, Hard Metals, Stainless, Titanium, Exotic Metals and Composites.

History Of Metal Finishing Company :

Metal Finishing Company was established in 1940 by Harley Babst to provide surface finishing for the burgeoning aircraft and agricultural industries in the Midwest. We are proud to have supported the war effort during that time as our military aggressively built an aircraft fleet under the Army Air Corps to defend our nation. Harley successfully navigated the company for many years after the end of World War II, but passed away unexpectedly in 1967 at which time his son Bob Babst assumed responsibility for the daily operations of the company at the age of 19.

Bob struggled with a difficult economy during his first years running the business, but was able to persevere to grow the company patiently over the years with a focus on expanding our capabilities to serve as a one-stop shop for our customers. Under Bob’s leadership, Metal Finishing Company was able to diversify away from a sole focus on conventional plating and surface finishing by adding a variety of related processes such as multiple Non-Destructive Inspection techniques, Painting capability, Shot Peen, and Flame Spray coatings. During this time, we were also able to create Diversified Services in Wellington, KS with unique capability to perform very long parts processing.

The third generation of family ownership for Metal Finishing Company began to be represented when Rob Babst began full time employment in 1999. In the ensuing years we continued to expand our footprint and capabilities through additions such as our Murdock street facility to serve as our quick turn facility and hub for our Ultrasonic and Radiographic inspections, and our Chihuahua facility to support the growing aerospace market in Mexico. Rob now serves as President of Metal Finishing Company, but Bob remains a very active presence in our business. More recently, Alex Babst has joined our team as an IT Systems Architect to further represent the third generation of family to be actively involved in the business.

Our newest addition to our scope of offerings is our Heat Treat Division formed in 2013 with capability to provide aluminum, steel, and exotic alloy heat treatment.
