MAIAMBIENTE is a municipal public company , created on August 31, 2001, under Law No. 58/98, of August 18, endowed with legal personality, administrative and financial autonomy and its own assets, subject to guardianship powers and superintendence of the Maia City Council .

Its main objective, by delegation from the Maia City Council , is the removal of urban and urban solid waste, the selective collection of recyclable materials and the maintenance of hygiene and cleanliness in public places in the municipality of Maia. It may also carry out, on an ancillary basis, other activities related to its purpose, namely the preparation or promotion of strategic development, sustainability and other studies.
