Ludwig Buildings Enterprises, LLC (Ludwig Buildings) is one of the oldest names and a pioneer in the metal building industry coming into existence in 1923 when our founder, E.B. Ludwig Sr. designed and manufactured a boiler building sitting atop the Hibernia Bank building.

Today Ludwig Buildings is a full-line manufacturer of pre-engineered metal buildings with experienced personnel including engineers, draftsmen and sales utilizing state-of-the-art computer technology in it’s 220,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. The plant is managed by our Plant Manager and experienced Foremen who work with a team of highly skilled and trained professionals who adhere to quality control standards required by today’s metal building industry. We are headquartered in Harahan, LA, in the Elmwood Industrial Park which is only minutes away from downtown New Orleans.

Ludwig is a member of the Metal Buildings Manufacturer’s Association (MBMA) and is accredited by the International Accreditation Service (IAS). What separates us from our competition is our personal service that you can only get from a family owned and operated company for 92 years.

Who we serve

Our customers range from contractors to end users. Ludwig primarily serves the Southeast United States, however we have delivered our buildings to 41 states and 28 countries. We are always looking to expand our reach and markets. From the simple to the complex, we can design and manufacture any metal building including warehouses, supermarkets, terminals, offices, schools, gyms, shipbuilding facilities, sugar warehouses, foundries, marinas, hangers, crane buildings, and mini-storage buildings.

History & Timeline

1923 – E.B. Ludwig Steel founded by E.B. Ludwig Sr. First building manufactured was a boiler building sitting atop the Hibernia Bank building.
1934 – Ludwig develops open truss arch roof building, which helped revolutionize the metal building industry. Open trusses were used during the great depression because of their competitive design.
1944 – Word War II era. Ludwig provides buildings for Higgins Industries – Higgins manufactured the “Higgins Boat” which was critical for the allies success on D-Day.
1950 – Ludwig ships its first building internationally to Mexico.
1963 – E.B. Ludwig Jr. is named President of the company.
1967 – Ludwig manufactures and ships over 400 pre-engineered structures to Vietnam for the US Government and their war efforts.
1974 – Ludwig expands its operation to a 10 acre site in Harahan, Louisiana where it is still headquartered today.
1987 – E.B. Ludwig III is named President of Ludwig Buildings.
1988 – Ludwig acquires its first standing seam panel line.
1995 – Ludwig becomes a member of the MBMA and AISC Certified.
2006 – Ludwig capitalizes on the oil boom in the United States and becomes a major building provider for the oil and gas industry.
