In 1993, Jim Lowndes found himself at a crossroad in his life. The aluminum company Jim worked for changed hands, which led him to a point of serious personal reflection on his own future. He took the opportunity to spend time in prayer and meditation and set out to determine what God’s will was for his career. With pen and paper in hand, Jim went to a quiet area of a sandy beach for several days until what he felt called to do became clear in his heart. Acknowledging that everyone needed to earn a living to support themselves and their families, Jim wanted to create an environment where they could enjoy what they are doing and with whom they are doing it. If Jim could make this dream a reality, he would deem the company a success. This would be the measure of the company. With that in mind, Jim Lowndes founded Liberty Aluminum Co. as the place where his dream could become a reality.
