K&L Sales was established in 1985 by brothers, Tom and David Knebes. Both had years of experience in the fastener industry for various fastener companies in the Midwest. They rented a small warehouse space in a Waukesha industrial park just off of I-94. The original product line included basic break-stem rivets and installation tooling, and all operations were performed by Tom and Dave. They began the day taking and making sales calls and ended the day in the warehouse shipping out the day’s orders. They wore all hats.  Soon they needed a larger facility. In 1988 they built a new office and warehouse off of Sunset Ave. in Waukesha. As business grew, they added employees who enhanced K&L’s reputation for engineering excellence and industry knowledge. John Butler, K&L’s current Operations Manager, has been with K&L for twenty years and has handled every job in the company at some time. Marty Meyer came on a few years later and added his wealth of fastener knowledge and contacts in the industry.

Finally they added an outside sales force to get the word out to customers throughout the Milwaukee, Madison, Fox River Valley, and northern Illinois areas that K&L is ready to provide them with excellent customer service, helpful product expertise and competitive pricing.  More product lines followed, including many new proprietary lines that were instrumental in K&L’s growth. K&L is presently a full-line distributor handling everything from those original pop rivets and installation tools, to AVK threaded inserts, Huck fasteners and Emhart rivets, cap screws, cable ties, and almost anything their customers require to fulfill their fastening needs. K&L has over twenty employees who work hard every day to make sure customers are serviced in a timely and professional manner.  In 2010, K&L’s growth required another move into their current building, a 21,000 square foot space in Hartland. They look forward to many years of growth based on good relationships with clients in Wisconsin, Illinois, and throughout the Midwest.
