“Quality+Care=Extraordinary Value!” is the driving force behind K-J’s everyday operations. Established in 1975 as Kay Jay Machine, founder Don “Stoney” Stonebrook set out to be a manufacturer of short run, special fasteners. Over the last 40 plus years, in addition to our captive in-house machine shop, Stonebrook Machine, we have become a full service distributor and value added center for a growing array of products to a wide variety of OEM’s and end users.
K-J’s focus has always been to provide our valued customers with superior quality products and service. To meet that need, in 2007 we pursued and received our ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification. We’re very proud of this achievement and in the confidence that it gives our customers in knowing that they’re partnering with a vendor who puts quality first.
Today K-J is comprised of three SBU’s (Strategic Business Units); Special Fasteners and Production Components, Inventory Replenishment Programs (stocking systems), and our newest division – Kits and Assemblies. If you have outsourcing needs in labor intensive areas such as bagging, assembling, sorting, fabricating, special packaging, or other secondary operations, our “K & A” capabilities may be of help. All products are offered in JIT programs to minimize your costs associated with acquiring, expediting, storing, handling, and maintaining your inventory.
K-J is about being involved within the fastener industry. We are charter members of the North Coast Fastener Association established in 1983. Members of our “K-J Team” have served as president, as trustees, and all have participated on committees to insure the success and growth of the organization. We are long-standing members of the National Federation of Independent Business, a small business political watchdog.
K-J is about growth with a vision toward the future. Eight times that growth has been recognized by our receipt of the Fast Track 50 Award from the Center for Business and Industry in Lake and Geauga counties. As a result, in 2006 we were honored by our induction into the Fast Track 50 “Hall of Fame”, an achievement of which we’re very proud.
K-J is about nuts and bolts, but so much more. We are about giving back to the community and were honored to be the first company to receive the Jack Miller Award for Outstanding Volunteer Organization for our partnership with the Neighboring Mental Health Services. In addition, we were the recipient of a Certificate of Congressional Recognition and Achievement from our Ohio Congressman for our work with the Lake County ADAMHS Board.
Foremost, K-J is about people. Our experienced and dedicated staff average over 25 years in the fastener industry. It’s truly their “Quality and Care” that gives “Extraordinary Value” to our customers and to our community.
