History

In 1982 the husband and wife team of Kenneth C. Kotchey and Irene N. Kotchey formed K & I Sheet Metal, Incorporated, a Woman Business Enterprise. In 1984, the corporation moved to a small building in Sharpsburg after outgrowing the space in their garage. In 1994, K & I relocated to their current 22,000 square-foot manufacturing and office facility at 2010 Chapman Street. Started by a team of two, K & I Sheet Metal, Inc. now has 30 fulltime employees.

K & I Sheet Metal, Inc. was founded on Irene and Ken’s philosophy of giving every job the ultimate in top quality service and personal attention. Through growth and change, that philosophy has remained constant.

Our philosophy, combined with the dedication to excellence of our team of highly skilled professionals, ensures that our reputation for prompt, reliable solutions to your HVAC and mechanical system needs will remain unchanged as we continue to grow.

Safety First

K & I Sheet Metal, Inc. has received the SMACNA of Western Pennsylvania recognition for Outstanding Accident Prevention and Safety Program every year from 1993-2016. We are committed to the safety and health of our employees. We ensure their work environment meets or exceeds government regulations (Federal, State, and Local). We fulfill this commitment through the aggressive education and training of all employees. Our ongoing Safety Awareness Program is designed to help our employees detect, understand and resolve potentially hazardous situations and accidents before they occur.

All Shop and Field personnel must successfully complete five years of the Sheet Metal Work Apprenticeship Training including the 30 hour OSHA and ICRA training. Field and management personnel participate in Safety Programs and Weekly Tool Box Meetings.

K & I Sheet Metal, Inc. strictly enforces safety policies and procedures with all personnel, including all team members in management positions.
