In 1969, Jordan Kekry bought the local Anheuser-Busch distributorship. Several years later it became Anheuser-Busch policy that distributors begin recycling their aluminum cans. Jordan employed one man to handle the recycling until the community began requesting that he accept other materials. He incorporated the business, naming it after his three daughters, and expanded the operation to include plastic bottles, glass, cardboard and newspaper. In 2000, he sold the beer distributorship back to Anheuser-Busch and began concentrating solely on the recycling operation.
Julindra Recycling has since grown to employee 17 people and recycle over 5 million pounds per year! Jordan continued to operate the recycling center until his passing in January 2016, at age 82. He left a legacy of listening to and caring for his community that will always be remembered.
