Joe Escobar Diamonds was founded by Joe Escobar in 1977. After spending 20+ years as a policeman, Joe discovered he had a passion for making and selling beautiful jewelry, or as he used to say, ‘being in the happy business.’ Perhaps wanting an escape from the harsh reality of police work, even though he loved the comradery, he wanted to do something that would stimulate his growing artistic interest in painting and sculpting so he taught himself how to make jewelry. And he was good at it. At the police department, he became known as ‘Diamond Joe’ for his love of diamonds, and his ability to offer value and quality in his tiny works of art. He would sell it wherever he had an audience in those early years — around the kitchen table at home (lovingly telling his kids to scram), or even out of his car.  While continuing to do police work by day, and jewelry making at night, he learned that jewelry offered an unexpected side benefit — it simply made people happy. This was the part he loved. As Joe’s reputation for top quality and great pricing spread, he made the risky decision (even with four kids at home to feed) to retire early from the San Jose Police Department, and follow his dream. Starting with a one-person operation, he branched out to a jewelry store with seven employees and triple the showroom size. In 1996, Joe Escobar Diamonds expanded again, opting to open one large store as opposed to a second one in a similar location. The new store opened on Hamilton Avenue in Campbell in 1996, and offered a large modern showroom, perfect for browsing through the 20 showcases of jewelry. The store also housed rooms for extensive manufacturing and service work from polishing to casting to a watchmaker’s service area — all with you, the ultimate customer in mind.

Joe Escobar Diamonds is a family owned and operated business. While Joe passed away in 2006, he passed on his love of the jewelry business to his children. Stacey, Mark, and David run the family business today, maintaining its reputation for the highest standards of integrity, quality, value, selection, and service.
