Jewell Engineering & Manufacturing Company, Inc, one of Louisville’s premier custom metal fabrication businesses to manufacture racks, carryors, foundations, and other miscellaneous steel products was founded by Ben Jewell Sr. in 1965. Many of the carryors were designed to convey parts along assembly lines for General Electric Company, Appliance Park, Louisville, Kentucky.

We began our operations in a 3,000-square-foot building located on Pinewood Road in the Buechel area. Over the years, we grew through multiple building expansions and eventually maxed out the available buildable space at Pinewood Road in to our 24,000-square-foot facility. In 2012, Jewell acquired and moved to a new 45,000-square-foot, 3 acre facility in the Bluegrass Commerce Park in Jessersontown, Kentucky.

This expansion has allowed us to increase production to serve customers in the construction, conveyor, material handling, and asphalt supply industries. Due to this, we have gained many loyal clients over the years, many of whom are still with us to this day.

Our business inherently became a family affair during our first decade when Ben Jr. and Denis (two of Ben Sr. sons) came to work for their father in the early 1970’s. In the early 1980s, our business gained another crucial member, the third son, Ed.

After Ben Sr.’s retirement in the late 1990s, Denis served as the president of Jewell Engineering & Manufacturing, Inc until 2008, when Ben Jr. took over the business.

Michael Jewell acquired the company from his father Ben Jr. in 2012 and started implementing plans to develop and modernize the third-generation business. Growing up in the business, Michael had worked alongside Ben Jr. since 1991.

Due to the larger production space and high-visibility location after the move, Jewell Engineering & Manufacturing, Inc. ramped up their operations and increased efficiency. Jewell employed a team of 18 hardworking and loyal professionals who continue to work tirelessly to ensure smooth manufacturing.
