The "Artisan" character of my work is revealed and emphasized through the totally hand-fabricated nature of my designs and the natural materials I utilize. These include raw metal, natural gemstones, fused/hand-blown glass, and occasionally "found" objects" with special memories attached to them. I apply traditional goldsmithing techniques to this process, including the ancient Korean techniques of Keum Boo (23 K gold foil fusing) and Mokume Gane (mixed metal fusing/compression/patterning). Via this process each piece created is rendered truly unique.
I approach my designs from two perspectives:
Multiple variations of a single design form coordinated into a collection
Enhancement of a specific gemstone's unique qualities within an integrated design to optimize the stone's beauty and character
The completion of any jewelry design always brings me great joy. I find the collaboration required to design and create a bespoke piece of jewelry for an individual client even more gratifying and a definite privilege.
My Studio
My studio is located in my home in St. Paul, MN, where the Mississippi river and its abundant wildlife spur my creative ideas. I am always working on new projects and available to meet individual client needs at any time.
