Jakacki Bag & Barrel, Inc., founded in 1942 by Frank J. Jakacki, is a leading reconditioner of fiber, steel and plastic drums. Located in Chicago, Illinois, Jakacki Bag & Barrel is a family-owned and operated business that is dedicated to the reconditioning of drums.
Upon its inception, Jakacki Bag & Barrel has worked with area and nationwide businesses to gather and recondition drums to increase the longevity of the barrels' usage. Considered one of the original recycling operations, Jakacki Bag & Barrel has changed a few product lines throughout the years, but remains dedicated to its original emphasis on drums.
When Frank J. Jakacki first started the family business, barrels were not the only product serviced by the company. Burlap bags were a prominent part of the initial growing success of Jakacki Bag & Barrel as indicated in the company name. However, burlap bag usage declined considerably after World War II and the 1950s, the bag portion of the business was discontinued. Retaining the bag portion of the name reflects the Jakacki family's respect for the company heritage and founding roots.
Sons Paul and Dennis Jakacki learned the family business from the ground up, each experiencing a variety of positions to fully learn the true nature of the industry. Under their guidance, Jakacki Bag & Barrel, Inc. has grown tremendously both in customer base as well as revenue generated. It is their foresight that encouraged the organization to adopt services that compliment their barrel reconditioning offerings. Some of the supplementary services Jakacki Bag & Barrel currently offers is regrind or the grinding of old plastic drums, reconditioning Super Bags, tote cleaning for the chemical and water treatment industries and the selling and reconditioning gaylords. Combined with the drum reconditioning services, these make Jakacki Bag & Barrel, Inc. one of the largest reconditioners in the U.S.A.
To keep up with growing demands, Jakacki Bag & Barrel, Inc. is ushering in one of the proudest moments in its history: an expansion that will streamline and increase production at Jakacki Bag & Barrel. Together with the Lawndale Business Association and the City of Chicago Empowerment Zone, the expansion will increase business and the number of jobs in an area that is experiencing economic hardship. Together, these organizations are positioning Jakacki Bag & Barrel to be an economic leader in this community.
Jakacki Bag & Barrel, Inc. has a bright future ahead. The current expansion will double operations and ushers in the third generation of Jakacki's to operate the business. By emphasizing customer service with fifty years of reconditioning experience, Jakacki Bag & Barrel will continue to be a force in nationwide reconditioning.
