Indian Summer Recycling opened in 1990. The owners were concerned that a valuable resource was being wasted when yard clippings were being dumped into Michigan’s landfills. They entered into agreements with the communities in Southeast Michigan to divert yard clippings to its facility in Casco Township.
At Indian Summer Recycling, leaves and grass are mixed together in equal measure. Windrows are formed that encourage the biological process which will turn the material into a productive soil amendment. During this process the internal temperatures of the windrows will reach in excess of 150°F. At these temperatures pathogens and weed seeds are killed.
After eighteen months of processing the material is screened. The result is a consistent light soil with a balanced pH, the water retention capability of peat moss and the nutrient value of a good fertilizer. Whether you are trying this product for the first time or using it regularly, you and your client will see results.
Indian Summer Recycling is able to receive clean yard waste from government agencies, and the contractors that serve them. This yard waste should consist of grass clippings, leaves, and light tree and shrub trimmings and chippings. We can accommodate equipment and loads of any size.
We do not accept recyclable materials from home owners and other individuals. If you are interested in sending us your recyclable materials, please get your local government or municipality to contact us.
