IMC has pioneered the use of its macerating and dewatering equipment to recycle catering food waste into compost. Founded on an extensive research programme recently concluded by Imperial College, London, the multi-award winning solution, which has received recognition from both the catering and waste management industries, uses an In Vessel Composter to enable waste producers to divert their waste from landfill and process it on site, thereby reducing emissions of harmful greenhouse gases whilst producing a valuable resource.
Food waste typically represents around 40% of total catering waste*.
IMC Food Waste Disposers remove this waste quickly and simply as it is produced, enabling best hygiene practices and creating a cleaner and safer working environment.
Waste is ground down into fine pieces which are then washed into the mains drainage system thereby avoiding its costly and environmentally unfriendly collection and treatment as solid waste.
IMC has introduced to the majority of its Food Waste Disposers a novel, new feature that dramatically reduces water consumption and helps to conserve this valuable resource. IMC’s “Water Flow Control” adjusts the volume of water that flows through the Food Waste Disposer whilst it is processing food waste.
Mixed catering food waste typically comprises 77% liquid.
WastePro II removes the excess liquid in the food waste enabling the grey water to be safely dispensed to drain whilst the solid fraction is captured in small, lidded, easily handled waste collection bins for subsequent disposal. By reducing the volume of waste requiring disposal by up to 80%, it is both much easier and significantly less costly to dispose of.
