I Love A Clean San Diego (ILACSD) offers a broad range of expertise in environmental education program design and implementation. ILACSD works to promote regional awareness of environmental issues including resource conservation, waste reduction and recycling, community enhancement, and pollution prevention. ILACSD is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.Founded as the San Diego War Against Litter Committee in 1954, I Love A Clean San Diego celebrates six decades of promoting environmental education and awareness in San Diego County. In the 1970s "I Love A Clean San Diego" was the slogan for the organization's anti-litter campaign and in 1980 it became the organization's name. In 1989, ILACSD merged with the San Diego Ecology Center, joining two leading environmental organizations together to better serve the community, under one name. Thanks to the continued support of our volunteers and generous donors, we celebrated our 60th year in 2014!As San Diego’s most influential advocate for sustainability, I Love a Clean San Diego (ILACSD) is an environmental catalyst, awakening passion and inspiring action, empowering everyone to improve the health and beauty of our local environment. We are passion in action.ILACSD is committed to conserving San Diego's coastal and inland resources by:I Love A Clean San Diego's Strategies for Raising Environmental Awareness,Providing hundreds of educational presentations that reach more than 31,000 students and adults each year.,Delivering 24-hour recycling information online through our one-stop recycling resource WasteFreeSD.org and through its Recycling and Household Hazardous Waste Hotline (1-800-237-BLUE),Engaging nearly 30,000 volunteers annually through cleanup events and community outreach.,Coordinating two countywide cleanups each year, the Creek to Bay Cleanup in April and Coastal Cleanup Day in September, where more than 14,000 volunteers remove approximately 340,000 lbs. of debris combined.,Involving thousands of community members in environmental events, programs, and educational campaigns each year.
