Since its inception, Hydro-Dyne Engineering® has continued to introduce exceptional quality screening equipment and service to the water and wastewater markets. Time proven equipment and newly patented designs are continually being manufactured as our growing company continues to add to our list of satisfied customers throughout the world.
Hydro-Dyne's focus is on building high quality equipment specialized for individual applications. Quality, Performance, Customer Service, and Value are unmatched in the industry.
1978 - Bruce Wiesemann founded Wiesemann Engineering as a manufacturer of precision sheet metal and close tolerance machined components. Repair of worn and failed wastewater treatment equipment led to the design of new screening equipment and resulted in a number of patents still used in the water and wastewater industry today.
1984 - The first Through Flow Filter Screen (present day Bull Shark Through Flow Screen) is manufactured and installed. The first of several patents for the Bull Shark Through Flow Screen are issued in 1985.
1988 - The first Center Flow Screen (present day Great White Center Flow Screen) is manufactured and installed. The first of several patents for the Great White Center Flow Screen are issued in 1989.
1991 - The first in-channel grinder is manufactured and installed in 1992 the first in-pipe grinder is installed.
1996 - Screen number 500 is installed.
1998 - The first Stepper Screen (present day Sawshark Filter Stepper) is manufactured and installed. A patent for the design is awarded in 2000.
2001 - Bruce Wiesemann retires and company name is changed to Hydro-Dyne Engineering Inc. under direction of Jay Conroy and several other former Wiesemann Engineering employees. Unique to the industry, manufacturing remains in-house with complete design and fabrication of all licensed equipment taking place at the original facility. New ownership promotes Research and Development, implements 3D CAD in design, introduces remanufacture service of original screens and discontinues the service intense grinder product line.
2003 - Screen number 1000 is installed and Hydro-Dyne discontinues licensing and acquires all original patents and trademarks. Entire screening product line is later acquired from Wheelabrator / US Filter / Siemens, providing the additional experience and records of hundreds of unique screening applications for the continued development of new equipment.
2005 - The first wire mesh screen is patented and installed. This design paves the way for the first perforated panel screen to be installed in 2007.
2007 - Operations are expanded with the purchase of the current office and manufacturing facility in Oldsmar, FL (Tampa Bay). The 20,000 sq. ft. facility is solely dedicated to the design, production, and testing of screening equipment.
2008 - Design and engineering coverts to all 3D design with Finite Element Analysis.
2009 - The first vortex grit trap and screw classifier (present day Sand Shark Grit Trap and Grit Classifier) is manufactured and installed.
2010 - Screen number 1500 is installed and the facility is expanded for increased production, additional manufacturing equipment and employees. Additionally, the Hammerhead Onsite Screen Sizing (H.O.S.S) System is developed and offered as a service to analyze a waste stream and recommend proper screen type, opening and operation.
2011 - Hydro-Dyne’s Great White Center Flow Screen sets Screening Capture Ratio records at the National Screen Evaluation Facility at Chester Le Street STW Northumbrian Water. (93.25% for 2mm and 84% for 6mm opening)
2014 - Operations are further expanded with the purchase of our current office and manufacturing facility in Clearwater, Florida. The well-built facility received extensive utility upgrades as well as interior and exterior improvements to present a world-class facility to house our deserving employees and manufacture high quality equipment. The 110,000 sq. ft. facility, and ample land, provide considerable room for our continued growth. It also provides a wonderful forum to showcase our people and products during customer factory tours for supplier qualification or equipment testing.
Today - Hydro-Dyne Engineering continues to introduce exceptional quality screening equipment and service to municipal and industrial water and wastewater markets. Time proven equipment and newly patented designs are constantly being manufactured as we continue to add to our list of satisfied customers throughout the world.
Tomorrow - We will always be more than a screen supplier. We are inventors, engineers, and manufacturers of stainless steel screens, washing compactors, conveyors and grit removal equipment. The highest quality equipment and service will be provided through our mission to retain complete control over our product line. All of our equipment will continue to be designed tested and manufactured at our facility by the highest caliber employees. We are your water and wastewater screening and grit removal experts.
