Our team of dedicated professionals have helped us become the leading producer of shell molded steel castings in the world. With a dedication to reinvesting into our company we have grown every year since our inception.
Today our companies total over 1.5 million square feet, with capacity approaching 100,000 tons yearly.
HISTORY
Huron Casting, Inc. was founded based upon the vision of Leroy Wurst. Leroy began in the foundry industry over 50 years ago when his family tiling business made the decision to make their own parts for trenching equipment. This was the beginning of a small family foundry. In 1976 Leroy followed his dream and made the decision to build Huron Casting which today is the largest shell molded steel foundry in the world.
1976 - Huron Casting shell mold facility founded with 38,000 ft2
1981 - 1994 - major plant expansions
1982 - Continuous Belt Furnace with Q/T
1986 - Thermal Sand Reclamation System
1988 - Axis Machining, Inc. founded
1992 - Axis Machining locates to current location with 40,000 ft2
1998 - Pouring line B completed giving shell capability up to 500 lbs.
1999 - Other plant expansions completed bringing total square footage to 310,000.
1999 - Arenac Casting, Inc. founded with 40,000 ft2
2007 - Suzhou Huron Manufacturing Co. Ltd. founded in Fenhu China 500,000 ft2 construction completed in 2011.
2008 - Blue Diamond Steel Casting founded. Construction completed on 208,000 ft² building with capability of producing shell mold castings up to 2,200 pounds and no-bake castings up to 12,000 pounds.
2009 - Blue Chip Machining founded with 97,000 ft2
2011 - Major Expansions BDS - 175,000 ft² Storage Facility - 100,000 ft2
2016 - Axis Machining expanded by 27,000 ft2
Current - Over 1.5 million square feet of manufacturing space with capacity approaching 100,000 tons yearly.
