When it comes to your waste, you can always count on HRM: The Environmental Department will collect your bottle glass, paper, environmental bags, metals, peelings and textiles. You take your bulky waste to the waste and recycling station.

HISTORY

HRM ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES: OVER 25 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN WASTE PROCESSING

1983

Kees Hoeksema starts with the manual processing and sorting of construction and demolition waste.

1988

Hoeksema buys business premises at the Feithspark in Tolbert. This was necessary due to the growth: more containers, trucks and personnel. HRM is adapting its sorting policy to process and transport the various waste materials more efficiently. The company adds mechanical waste treatment.

1999 

The environmental vehicle appears on the streets of a number of municipalities in the north of the Netherlands. The car collects waste paper, peelings and bottles. Later, the environmental bag for separating plastic packaging material will be added.

2000 

HRM moves to Grootegast. There, it is expanding its activities with the municipal transfer station "De Tweemat". This makes it necessary to purchase a larger mechanical sorting machine, resulting in work for ten people.

2005

Ronald Hoeksema (son of Kees) opens thrift store "De Cirkel" in Boerakker. He runs the shop together with a permanent team from the "De Zijlen" foundation, an organization for shelter and employment of people with a mental or physical disability. Customers can buy all kinds of second-hand products in the store, from clothing to stamps.

2009

Martijn Hoeksema (son of Kees) starts his own container transport company on 1 May. Martijn Hoeksema Transport .

HRM now has seventy employees. They are responsible for the collection, sorting and processing of industrial and household waste. In this process, HRM tries to relieve the (human) living environment as much as possible, with the motto that 80% of the waste deserves a second chance. According to the Hoeksema`s, HRM has not (for a long time) grown.
