With 60 years of industry experience, commitment to service, reliability, innovation and the environment, Horton is a premium provider of engine cooling solutions worldwide. The company manufactures and markets fan drives, fans and related components in OEM applications and aftermarket segments globally to the following industries:
- Heavy-, medium- and light-duty truck
- Bus
- Motor coach/RV
- Off-highway
- Industrial (compressors, gen. sets, refrigeration units, etc.)
Horton maintains its leadership position in large part due to a culture dedicated to innovation. Horton's comprehensive research and development processes are driven by a commitment to exceed the cooling demands of reduced-emission engines today and in the future.
Horton employs one of the industry's largest teams of engineers, designers and technicians in new product development and prototype testing. Horton's research and development team observes and records performance data from a control center featuring around-the-clock video monitoring of products in state-of-the-art test cells. A dynamometer with ram air provisions accurately simulates a full range of real-life operating conditions. Fan life analysis is conducted in endurance test cells and a burst pit. Maximum airflow along with peak efficiency of fan or shroud designs is determined in the 60,000 cubic feet per minute (cfm) airflow capacity wind tunnel. Today, Horton holds many domestic and international patents.
Horton plants offer particular expertise in material selection, precision machining, assembly and remanufacturing. They feature computerized inspection, line-sequenced production and automated test equipment.
Horton's involvement doesn't stop when the part goes out the door. We offer service that's second to none, with the largest fan and fan drive customer support in the industry. Worldwide, Horton's skilled engineers, technicians, sales and service teams provide on-time delivery and the reliable industry-leading support you need to keep your fleet running smooth.
Sales and service are managed through Horton representatives and a knowledgeable network of distributors and dealers around the world. Horton products are available for new-vehicle construction (OEM) as well as replacement and retrofit applications (aftermarket).
Founded in 1951, the company focused on manufacturing industrial clutches through its early years. In the 1960s, Horton applied its expertise to fan clutches for cooling diesel engine trucks and off-highway vehicles. During the U.S. energy crisis in the 1970s, Horton convinced truck manufacturers that they could save fuel by running fan clutches on vehicles only when the engine required cooling. By the late 1980s, Horton fan drives became standard equipment for major truck manufacturers. During the last decade, Horton released a variety of premium fan drives, fans, valves and repair kits. In 2002, Horton entered the viscous fan drive market through acquisition. An additional acquisition in 2004 has fostered expansion of the WindMaster® line of fans to include metal, plastic and composite fans. Horton continues to provide the latest technology, the highest quality, and the most dependable products available.
