Hoover’s Jewelers has always been a family business. In the beginning, we were started by Herb and Bunny Hoover, who opened the first store in North Platte back in 1930.  My father Bonny soon joined them, working as a watchmaker and bench jeweler.

When things got so busy that Herb and Bunny needed help on the sales floor, Dad stepped in, and the rest is history.  They all worked together for many years, and eventually, our Dad became a partner in the store. Then the time came for Herb and Bunny to retire, and Dad stepped into that leadership role. Hoover’s Jewelers has been in our family ever since. All four of us – my sisters and brothers – have worked in the store over the years and I still look forward to coming in every day.

We opened our Kearney store in 1988, and moved downtown on the bricks in 1998. We have really loved becoming part of the community here. When we stop at the grocery store to get a gallon of milk, the people we see are our customers and friends – that type of uniquely wonderful experience can’t be found just anywhere.

For our part, we’ve really focused on making sure our customers are more than thrilled with the diamonds and fine jewelry they purchase from us: we always say, “It’s not perfect until it’s perfect for you!” It’s been an honor and privilege to be part of your lives as you celebrate engagements, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and all of life’s special moments.

At Hoover’s Jeweler’s, we strive to get you exactly the item you are wanting for that special person or even yourself. We pride ourselves on customer service and would do anything we could to get you into that perfect piece! For those more expensive items you may not have the funds for all up front, we have financing options available.

How Layaway Works

Our free layaway program is very simple. All you have to do is make a 25% down payment. We give you 60 days to pay in full – no interest or fees means you save money! Many customers choose to pick up their layaway’s long before the 60 days is up: it’s a smart strategy to use when you find the perfect piece of fine jewelry but need to wait until payday to make it happen.
