HENNE HISTORY  The Founding Generation. Henne Jewelers is founded by Rudolph J. Henne and opens for business at 6018 Centre Avenue in East Liberty. This first Henne jewelry store was in a building next to a millinery shop.    Second Generation. Rudolph's son, Rudolph G. Henne (aka "Gerry") takes over the the Henne Jewelers business, managing it through the difficult years of the Great Depression, World War II and the post war boom.    Third Generation Gerry's son, Jack takes over the management of Henne Jewelers. In 1978, he adds manufacturing and repair capabilities and moves the store to Filbert Street in Pittsburgh's Shadyside neighborhood.    Fourth Generation Jack's children, John, Anne and Meg assume management of the store. Henne Jewelers becomes an Official Rolex Dealer.    Henne Jewelers moves to its current location at 5501 Walnut Street, with an expansive new store.   A milestone! Henne Jewelers celebrates its 125th anniversary in business. Today, as in 1887, customers are pleased to see that anytime you walk through the doors of Henne Jewelers, a Henne family member is there to greet, help and advise.

We have a master watchmaker on staff who is certified to fix watches right here, so you don’t need to send them back to the factory.  WATCH REPAIR If it ticks, Chris can fix it. Chris Travelstead is our highly regarded in-house, Certified Master Watchmaker, with thirty years experience in watch service and repair. Chris can perform repairs in-house on almost any fine Swiss watch, saving you the time and trouble of sending your cherished timepiece back to the factory.  JEWELRY REPAIR If one of your precious pieces of jewelry needs repair, don’t despair. Our grading standards for diamonds and colored gemstones are based on the most respected and recognized grading standards in the world: The Gemological Institute of America.

We also have extensive knowledge of and experience in appraising antique jewelry (Art Deco, Victorian, Edwardian, etc.) and branded jewelry & watches such as Rolex, Tiffany, Cartier, etc.  Our three appraisers have a combined experience of 60 years. We have two GIA Graduate Gemologists and one Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain. One is a Certified Gemologist Appraiser with the American Gem Society and one is a Certified Member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers. We employ state of the art technology combined with expert knowledge to bring you the most comprehensive appraisal service.  Fees will be estimated before any work is started so you will have no hidden costs. We will expertly clean and inspect the items, checking for damage, loose settings, etc. We will advise you on what needs appraised and what doesn’t and recommend repairs when deemed necessary.
