Dumpster vs. Roll Off Dumpster - What's the difference?

Once you have determined you need to rent a dumpster to have at your property or construction site, you may be overwhelmed with the different sizes and types available. Here are some pros and cons to the different types:

Roll Off Dumpster Rental

Ranging from 10 yard up to 40 yards, these large, rectangular bins that often take up the entire parking space if not two. These are typically used for commercial or residential renovations and can take large construction debris such as roofing material or drywall. Roll off dumpsters need to be delivered on a large truck which is usually equipped with a tilt-bed trailer so ample space for both the truck and the roll off is required.

Standard Dumpster

Standard dumpsters can be either square or rectangular in size and typically include a lid. These units are delivered by truck and can even be placed on your driveway in most neighborhoods. These can sometimes be called cans or totes and offer smaller sizes ranging from 3 to 6 yards. Some businesses also have blue dumpsters that are strictly for recycling.
