The world, our environment and our lives are changing and being renewed. Disasters and epidemics in history hundreds of years ago enabled cities and structures to be redesigned and lives changed.
The epidemic, which unexpectedly affects our lives today, seems to affect nature and the world in the future as well.
Yeşil Rapido has been examining the "sustainability" theme since 2013 by considering today's conditions and variables.
Green Rapido's theme for 2022 has been determined as 'Resilient Cities, Resilient Buildings'. Issues such as the increasing and intensely felt effects of the climate crisis and the increasing needs of the population concentrated in the cities have made it a matter of discussion how our cities will react in adverse conditions. As a result of these discussions, a concept that corresponds to "resilient" in our language as "resilient" or "flexible" has entered our agenda.
According to Alex Wilson, founder of the Resilient Design Institute, resilient design involves creating homes, buildings and living spaces that are resilient to extreme weather events caused by climate change.
While the concept of 'sustainability', which has become a buzzword in our language that we have been talking about for many years, focuses on measures to protect environmental impact and resources, resilience; stresses resilience, the ability to heal and adapt.
In addition, with the European Green Deal (European Green Deal), which is one of the studies aimed at reducing the effects of climate change and announced by the European Union (EU) Commission in December 2019, the EU plans to reduce its carbon emissions by 50 percent until 2030 and to reach the zero carbon emission target in 2050. . Beyond being an opportunity for Turkey, this agreement also opens the door to creating resilient living spaces.
Therefore, it is a fact that it is not enough for buildings to be in harmony with nature anymore. At this point, structures should be built to withstand natural disasters and man-made disasters.
While Resilient Buildings remains a hot topic, how construction practices will change is also the subject of debate. From now on, building manufacturers will have to pay much more attention to their building material choices. The way to build cities that can survive against the negative effects of climate change is to produce resilient structures.
We invite you to be among the stakeholders of this comprehensive conference where all aspects of the issue will be discussed and solution proposals will be developed.
