GRAN BV offers the sustainable solution for green and wood waste. This partnership between ARN , Bruins&Kwast , Van Iersel and Den Ouden improves the environmental situation of the entire processing chain for these waste flows. Active in the collection, processing and transport of all kinds of biomass: from green waste to compost and from waste wood to biofuel, this consortium has a total service capacity.

The greatest environmental benefit can be achieved with ' peat replacement' . Peat is a fossil, scarce raw material, the extraction of which is associated with negative side effects on the environment and biodiversity. For a number of peat applications, high-quality compost from organic waste is a good alternative. The peat substitute is used for the production of potting soil, substrates, nutrient media for mushroom cultivation, potting soil for trees, such as tree sand and tree soil. Specific products such as tree sand and tree soil are often used by municipalities for the construction of urban plantations.

Partners in GRAN are very active in improving (innovating) the composting process . This minimizes greenhouse gas emissions from the process. Grass from roadsides and nature reserves is (co-)fermented for biogas production.

GRAN works according to the cascade model, in which great value is attached to the 'cradle-to-cradle' concept (waste is used as raw material for the same product; the cycle is closed). We consider the reuse of green waste to be the most important; extracting sustainable energy from waste streams for which there is (temporarily) no possibility of reuse is the valuable closing item. Our intention is to use all materials used in a new or different product after their life cycle has ended.
