The family company, which was founded as a sole proprietorship in 1963, today consists of a competence network of 55 subsidiaries and business units of GP Günter Papenburg AG. Nationwide, around 3,800 employees work in the fields of extraction of raw materials, production of building materials, building construction, civil engineering, road and track construction, construction machinery trade and service, mechanical and plant engineering, freight forwarding and disposal, including recycling and landfilling.
More than 1,380 people are employed in Central Germany alone. The company is currently training 85 trainees in commercial and industrial professions in Saxony-Anhalt in order to be able to meet the need for skilled workers in the future.

As a responsible partner for the Halle region, practical professional orientation and the support of projects to secure skilled workers are particularly important to us.

1963
Günter Papenburg starts his own business as a haulier in Negenborn, Burgdorf district

1974
Relocation of the company headquarters to Schwarmstedt. The Negenborn gravel plant becomes a branch.

In 1976
the Isernhagen gravel works is registered as an operating facility.

1977
Foundation of Papenburg GmbH & Co. KG Straßen- und Tiefbau , in 1995 change of name to GP Papenburg Baugesellschaft mbH . Between 1992 and 1998 branches are established in Grimmen, Stendal, Halle, Potsdam, Teltow and Goldisthal .

1978
Acquisition of the road construction companies Lemli + Schwartz GmbH and 1981 Heinz Riemann GmbH as well as Makadam-Transporte GmbH & Co. KG in Baden-Württemberg.
Foundation of the GP Günter Papenburg branch - local and long-distance freight transport, building materials trade in Braunschweig and purchase of the BBB Braunschweiger Betonsteinwerk Bienrode . In April 1992 transition to today's Gala-Lusit-Betonsteinwerke GmbH with plants in Braunschweig and Wolfsburg. In this and the following year, the plants in Halle-Lochau, Riesa-Zeithain and Berlin-Velten also go into production.

1979
Conversion of the sole proprietorship into GP Günter Papenburg - local and long-distance goods transport, building materials, mineral oil trade, earthworks, gravel works .

1981
Participation in Poller Steinbrüche GmbH & Co. KG .

1984
One-third stake in HANOMAG. In 1996 the shares in Komatsu Ltd. sold.

1990
Foundation of the GP Günter Papenburg Gesellschaft für Baustoffe und Transport mbH Halle,  today's GP Papenburg Logistik GmbH and GP Baumaschinen GmbH Halle with branches in Cottbus and Dresden. Acquisition of the Bau- und Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH  from the Treuhandanstalt Berlin.
New establishment of NORIS Disposal GmbH , which, together with NORIS Handels- und Transport GmbH in Hanover, puts a recycling sorting plant into operation in 1993 and a building material sorting plant in 1995.

1991
Acquisition of further trust companies: HALL-BAU GmbH (renamed GP Verkehrswegebau GmbH in 2009 ) as well as two clay works, which today complete the range of raw materials offered by GP Günter Papenburg AG .
The Intrans Nutzfahrzeuge GmbH  completes the service area.

1992
Acquisition of Fritz Schuppert Hoch- und Tiefbau GmbH & Co. KG with headquarters in Hanover, a branch in Göttingen and the precast plant in Seelze.
The branches in Halle and Magdeburg are established by mid-1993. In 2009 the name was changed to GP Papenburg Hochbau GmbH .
Participation in Readymix Beton Saale GmbH & Co KG, Halle , whose proportionate mixing plants are now managed by GP Papenburg Betonwerke GmbH , Mitteldeutsche Baustoffe GmbH and DEUPA-Asphalt-Mischwerke Gesellschaft für Baustoffe mbH, Leipzig.

1993
The grader producer Hallesche Baumaschinen GmbH is taken over by the Treuhand.

1994
The excavator manufacturer NOBAS GmbH and the asphalt mixing plant manufacturer teltomat Maschinen GmbH , today's GP Papenburg Steuerungs- und Anlagenbau GmbH , complete the mechanical engineering.

As a result of the merger of GP Günter Papenburg GmbH with HBM AG, GP Günter Papenburg AG is created .

Construction machinery production at HBM / Nobas GmbH is concentrated at the Nordhausen location and is now run under GP Papenburg Maschinenbau GmbH . Acquisition of Baustoffbetriebe Merseburg-Ost GmbH, whose gravel plant today completes the range of raw materials offered by GP Günter Papenburg AG .

1996
ARC Anderter Recycling Center GmbH is active in the processing of demolition and demolition materials. In 2006 merger with GP Günter Papenburg AG.

With the takeover of the Northeim and Bramwald concrete works, today's Gala-Lusit-Betonsteinwerke GmbH receives two new production facilities in Northeim and Hannoversch-Münden. Prior to this, plants in Potsdam, Niemegk, Berlin-Köpenick and Helmstedt had been acquired between 1996 and 1998 and the concrete block plant was built in Wunstorf.

2000 GP Günter Papenburg AG is also present at the world exhibition in Hanover
with Arena Hannover GmbH, founded in 1998, and as the client in the EXPO residential area Kronsberg . 

2001
Takeover of Nortenhof Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH with stakes in Entsorgungszentrum Salzgitter GmbH , Electrocycling GmbH , Electrocycling Anlagen GmbH , the company for processing and recycling residues mbH and TRABA-Germania GmbH .

2002

Acquisition of KOMATSU Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH and transfer to GP Baumaschinen GmbH Halle as the Berlin-Teltow branch.

Foundation of GP Baustoffe Nord with construction of the asphalt mixing plant in Wahlstedt. Expansion by the Lusit Group with four concrete block plants in Löhne, Liebersee, Magdeburg and Reichshof. Foundation of the Berlin Brandenburgische Asphaltmischwerke GmbH with locations in Berlin-Rudow and Doberlug-Kirchhain. Participation in the project company Seniorenpflegeheim Schloss Osterstein GmbH in Zwickau. Foundation of TOO Papenburg International Kazakhstan as a representative of the construction and mechanical engineering division in Central Asia.

2007 GP Papenburg Betonwerke GmbH was
created on 01/01/2007 through the takeover and merging of six ready-mixed concrete plants in Bitterfeld, Halle, Leipzig, Niemekg, Sangerhausen and Siersleben, two precast plants in Leipzig and Schwarze Pumpe and our prefabricated garage manufacturer in Oschatz . In the north, GP Papenburg Betonwerke Nord GmbH is established with the same range of services . The forwarding division has also been strengthened. GP Günter Papenburg AG, Keunecke Silospedition near Braunschweig, enters the race by taking over around 60 silo vehicles from a traditional haulage company . Today's GP Papenburg Hochbau GmbH

is strengthened with a branch in Berlin.

The Hannover Scorpions become German champions for the 2010/2011 season. In 2013 the DEL license goes to Schwenningen.

Opening of the Magdeburg branch of GP Baumaschinen GmbH Halle .
Takeover of the asphalt mixing plant in Doberlug-Kirchhain from the investment in Berlin Brandenburgische Asphaltmischwerke GmbH .

2012
Expansion of the forwarding company by Wilhelm Behrens Baustoff- und Transport-Handels-GmbH & Co. KG in Lünen and opening of the Zwickau branch of GP Baumaschinen GmbH Halle .

2013
Opening of the Lüneburg branch of GP Baumaschinen GmbH Halle and expansion of GP Papenburg Betonwerke GmbH with a plant in Zwenkau.

2014
Opening of the Cologne and Wahlstedt branches of GP Baumaschinen GmbH Halle and expansion of GP Papenburg Betonwerke GmbH with four plants in Leipzig, Coswig, Tollwitz and Bitterfeld.

2016
Spin-off of GP Steuerungs- und Anlagenbau GmbH from the teltomat operating part and GP Papenburg Maschinenbau GmbH from the HBM-NOBAS operating part of GP Günter Papenburg AG. Merger of the asphalt mixing plants of the GP Günter Papenburg group of companies into GP Papenburg Asphaltmischwerke GmbH .

2017
Expansion of the areas of raw materials, building material recycling and landfills as well as low-loader and bulk goods transports with the GfB Gesellschaft für Baustoffe und Recycling GmbH at the locations Halle (Saale), Köchstedt, Müelte, Oppin and Teutschenthal.
The GP Engineering GmbH is expanding its portfolio and trades for GmbH GP Engineering and project order.

2019
GP Ingenieurbau und Projekt GmbH takes over the branch of GP Papenburg Hochbau GmbH in Hanover and changes its name to GP Hoch- und Ingenieurbau GmbH .
The raw materials division expands with GP Alsterkies GmbH to include gravel works Bark, Breitenfelde, Lüttow and Zweedorf as well as Schweringen, Tündern, Tweelbäke, Leese and the Piesberg quarry in GP Günter Papenburg AG.
The building materials division expands with GP Alster Beton GmbH to include the ready-mixed concrete works Bargteheide, Halstenbek, Hamburg-Billbrook and Henstedt-Ulzburg and with GP Betonwerke West GmbHaround Bielefeld-Brackwede, Bremen industrial ports, Delmenhorst-Düsternot, Hameln-Hastenbek, Herford, Horn - Bad Meinberg, Lauenförde, Nienstädt, Petershagen-Wietersheim and Rheda-Wiedenbrück.
