Goulding’s Jewelers originated in 1852 in Alton, Illinois. The Goulding family owned and operated the business for three generations until selling the business to Vaughn Oberlink. Vaughn Oberlink went to watch repair school at Bradley University after World War II. After working as a repairman for a couple of years he bought a small store in Farmer City, Illinois. He had trouble making a living for his family so he became the watch repairman for Goulding’s in 1962. He went on to buy the business in 1972.David Oberlink(pictured), Vaughn’s son, is now the current owner and operator of Goulding’s Jewelers. David graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1969. He was employed as an elementary school teacher in the Alton School District until 1976 when he bought Goulding’s from his father. In 1981, David became a Graduate Gemologist though the Gemological Institute of America. His certifications and years of experience make him very well qualified to serve you and your jewelry needs.
