Glass recycling helps make this a reality. Because almost every bottle today consists of over 75% recycled glass.
The material, which comes partly from waste glass containers and partly from industrial, commercial and private customers, is first shredded in the plant and cleaned of foreign matter. The shards are then isolated with the help of a sensor-supported sorting according to the respective color and checked again. The recycling cycle closes when the glass granulate is melted in the respective glassworks and finally processed into new vessels.
The glass processing plant was put into operation in Neuburg an der Donau in December 1992. After numerous technical innovations, hollow and flat glass have since been separated and checked in a complex process.
The recycling plant meets the strictest standards and is subject to a certified quality management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001, as well as an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001. As a certified waste management company, it is one of the most efficient and modern systems in Europe and includes a radius of approx. 250 km.
Around 170,000 tons of waste glass are processed or ground at the site every year. Glasrecycling Neuburg GmbH & Co. KG is a subsidiary of the Büchl (Ingolstadt) and PreZero (Porta Westfalica) corporate groups.
