History: Celebrating a Century in SoMa

The five-story building that houses the GiftCenter & JewelryMart is on the National Register of Historical Places and California Register of Historic Places. Originally built in 1912 by the National Carbon Company, it later served as a paper warehouse for Blake, Moffitt, and Towner. In 1983, it was converted into a wholesale mart, housing both gift and jewelry showrooms.

The GiftCenter & JewelryMart went through a major exterior and interior renovation, adding more space and light with a glass atrium. All jewelry-related businesses have consolidated in the lower and street levels of 888 Brannan. The GiftCenter & JewelryMart will continue to serve the needs of the jewelry and gift trade industry—without missing a beat.
