History

Geurts Metaal & Transporten VOF originated in the early 1970s in Vianen (NB). 
Wim (the eldest son of Chris and Riek Geurts) went around the neighborhood with his bicycle trailer to collect waste paper.
Chris took the waste paper from the farmers where he worked at the time. 

As it was not so big in terms of storage in Vianen and the hobby was expanding more, the family, which now consisted of 4 children, moved in 1978 to 2 Beversestraat in Cuijk. 

In those days it was no longer just waste paper.
In the meantime, scrap iron and metals were also added.
Chris and Wim were busy at that time collecting the waste paper & iron.
Riek was involved in processing the phone calls, accounting and collecting the waste paper and iron when Wim was on the road.

The bicycle trailer was replaced by the cargo moped.
And when it was no longer feasible with the cargo moped, it was replaced by a van.

Geurts Metaal Cuijk was established on 1 January 1982.
At a later stage, the van will be replaced by a truck.

However, disaster strikes in 1992:
Wim dies after the consequences of a tragic traffic accident.
From that time on, Bert (Chris and Riek's other son) took over the company, who previously worked as an international driver.
Over time, Geurts Metaal Cuijk has focused more on transport.

Therefore, on January 1, 1995 the company “ Geurts Metaal & Transporten VOF ” was founded.

Riek passed away in 2002: the linchpin of the family.
From that time on, Jolanda (the youngest daughter) takes over the accounting.

Now that we are 40 years later, Chris is still working in the company and Bert on the truck.
His wife Christel and sister Jolanda are responsible for accounting.

The fleet now consists of 9 trucks.
