GeoStrata was established in 1999 by Mr. Hiram Alba, P.E., P.G., the Founding Principal. The company has been actively performing services since 2001. These services have ranged from Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Testing and Inspection, and other specialized services.  ​  GeoStrata provides consulting services, geological, geotechnical and environmental engineering services, as well as materials testing and special inspections. GeoStrata has a geotechnical, asphalt, soils, and concrete laboratory, including a humidity controlled cure room. GeoStrata has the resources and equipment to set up mobile laboratories that can be placed at job site locations.  ​  Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology, Materials Testing and Special Inspection firms are qualified by education, certifications, and experience. GeoStrata has a highly educated staff of professionals who are highly certified in their capabilities and highly qualified through experience. Providing professional and cost effective services for our client’s is a critical goal for our firm.  ​  Geotechnical Engineering: Projects include damns, water tanks, water treatment plants, power plants, bridges, mining, roads, transportation projects, and industrial expansions.  ​  Environmental Services: GeoStrata has experience in air and water permitting, environmental compliance, soil and groundwater remediation, CERCLA / Superfund remediation, site assessments, and asbestos inspections. We are skilled in a multitude of diverse environmental projects. Our projects range anywhere from single site assessments all the way up to multi-million dollar environmental projects.  ​  Geology Engineering: GeoStrata has conducted fault, debris flow, landslide, and rock fall hazard studies. We can conduct geophysics, such as seismic refraction, electrical resistivity, GPR, and optical televiewer surveys.  ​ 

GIS: We provide GIS and mapping services, utilizing ESRI software products, including ArcGis Desktop, Spatial Analyst, and 3D Analyst.  ​  Materials Testing and Laboratory Services: We have a certified materials testing laboratory and a complete geotechnical engineering laboratory. Our laboratory has been certified by AASHTO, AMRL, CCRL, UDOT, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  ​  Special Inspections Services: We can perform inspections on reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, welding, soil nailing, spray-applied fireproofing, pre-cast and post-tensioned concrete, lining systems, pavement analysis, and design.  ​  GeoStrata has the unique ability to perform its own geophysics to support the geotechnical/geologic group. GeoStrata has performed seismic refraction, resistivity, GPR and optical televiewer surveys. These studies provide information about the subsurface density, groundwater depth, inferred permeability, strike and dip of fractures and planes and bedrock rippability. GeoStrata has used these studies on many projects to efficiently define subsurface properties over broad areas of project sites.  ​  In addition to geotechnical services, GeoStrata has been providing environmental services in Utah for over 12 years. Led by Mr. Alba, GeoStrata routinely performs Transaction Screen Assessments, and Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA’s). Additional environmental consulting services include but are not limited to the installation of groundwater monitoring wells. Sampling of groundwater, soil, asbestos containing materials (ACM’s), air permitting and air dispersion modeling. Environmental remediation services at CERCLA, RCRA and UST sites. Preventative plans such as SPCC and SWPP plans.  ​  GeoStrata prides itself on having highly qualified and certified technicians for completion of quality control materials testing and special inspection work. This work includes performing asphalt and concrete mix designs, all aspects of soil, concrete and masonry testing, special studies on materials deficiencies, special inspection (reinforced concrete, structural masonry, structural steel, welding, spray-applied fireproofing, and precast/post-tensioned concrete), building inspection (commercial building construction, mechanical and fire systems), lining systems (geomembrane-HDPE, LDPE, EPDM, PVC, RPP, geosynthetic clay liners, geotextile fabrics and geotextiles) and pavement analysis and design.
