Our Mission
GeoEnvironmental Resources, Inc. began in 1992 with the mission to provide superior professional consulting engineering services on a worldwide basis to a diverse client group. The concept was to provide the technical, managerial, and expertise of a large company while providing the level of personal service typically found in smaller entrepreneurial firms. All of our professionals have moved to GER from large international engineering and service companies and bring extensive experience to your projects. This experience is not limited to the Mid-Atlantic States, but national and international as well. Our principals have over 100 years of combined experience with well over 8000 projects from which to draw experience to apply to your project. Small company - huge experience and ability.
Company Profile
GeoEnvironmental Resources, Inc. is a customer oriented, small business Professional Engineering firm dedicated to providing consulting services in the following specialized areas:
We are a client oriented company. We believe that to serve our clients, close personal attention in helping our clients solve their problems is required. Our approach is simple, exceed client expectations. To achieve that goal, we feel that a quality staff providing a value in service and meeting commitments is the key. GeoEnvironmental Resources' full-service technical expertise is available to ensure that projects are completed on-time and on-budget. Our goal is to become an extension of your staff -- additional resources that you can call upon to tackle projects and solve problems.
Appropriate types of technical training are provided to all technical personnel depending on their job function. Each job is directed by a Principal-In-Charge. Principals have a great deal of expertise and technical knowledge. Additionally, each project is assigned to a Quality Control Advisor who is responsible for the quality of work performed by the office and for reviewing the performance of the personnel. These and other systematically applied Quality Assurance procedures provide GER and our clients with a level of confidence in the quality of our services.
Environmental
Our services include environmental site assessments, regulatory guidance, permit processing, preparation of environmental documents, groundwater and surface water quality analysis and monitoring, soils analysis and monitoring, indoor air quality studies, and environmental engineering to support our clients underground and above ground storage tank (UST/AST) installation and maintenance program.

Geotechnical
A thorough understanding of subsurface soil, rock and groundwater conditions is essential to the success of construction projects and the stability and performance of buildings and infrastructure. Our geotechnical group is challenged to provide innovative solutions using state-of-the-art technologies while still meeting the price competitive nature of the industry. Our engineers attend seminars and conferences to learn the latest methods to provide a new look at the old problems of poor soils. Our goal is to maximize the performance of the geotechnical structures of a project while minimizing the overall costs. At the same time, the fee structure for our services is price competitive with those providing traditional solutions with overly conservative performance.
Geotechnical solutions usually require either time or money. Some projects have neither. Cost savings can also be generated by using more advanced methods to evaluate problems that would otherwise create delays in the construction schedule. By reducing the time required for such delays, money is also saved on the project not to mention delivery of the final product to the client more quickly.
Traditional approaches to geotechnical issues can be overly conservative and lead to unnecessary delays in a project. Using two and three dimensional along with multilayer modeling evaluates the subsurface more closely as it exists rather than as created in the minds of the engineer. Such methods more accurately predict how the subsurface will behave and coincide with field observations that have been taken for granted in the profession and dismissed as expected deviations from predicted estimates to field measurements.
Site and subsurface conditions are often the single most cause for change orders on a project. Our engineers always visit the project site, supervise the sampling and data collection in the field, and classify the samples as they are obtained. This allows our engineers a better understanding of site and subsurface conditions so the engineering evaluation and calculations are based on personal experience and understanding; not the notes and second hand information provided by others. Typical services include:

Hazardous Materials
Hazardous materials are commonly found in many structures and building components. These materials generally include asbestos containing materials (ACM), lead paints, PCBs, fluorescent light fixtures, as well as any other regulated material which exhibits hazardous characteristics. By definition, "hazardous materials" exist all around us. These materials are a part of our daily life. Most hazardous materials are not hazardous to human health and the environment if handled properly by trained individuals who take appropriate precautions.

Groundwater
Groundwater withdrawal permitting may be required if groundwater withdrawal rates exceed regulatory thresholds. These types of withdrawal permits are typically associated with golf courses, irrigation needs, water supplies, and other high water use applications. A withdrawal permit is always required for these high water use applications. Environmental issues associated with groundwater withdrawals may include disposal issues, as well as withdrawal permitting. Groundwater withdrawals are commonplace, especially where the groundwater table is shallow. Shallow groundwater can require dewatering efforts during construction activities such as foundation excavations, construction of storm water facilities, and installation of pipeline trenches as well as other below grade structures.

Industrial Hygiene
Building conditions, both real and perceived are significant factors in the health, comfort, satisfaction and productivity of employees. There have been many changes in the way buildings are designed and operated over the last twenty-five years, resulting in great reductions in air infiltration rates. These changes aimed at reducing energy costs, but have also, in many cases, reduced the rate at which moisture and pollutants are removed. Over the last decade, pressure has been applied to architects, engineers and building managers to address these issues because of increased public awareness, court awards, and changes in consensus standards.

Disaster Planning
Our staff supports the efforts of various municipalities in their Disaster Preparedness Programs and Project Impact initiatives. They work in selecting, evaluating, permitting and designing Temporary Debris Storage and Reduction Sites (TDSRSs), developing contracts for TDSRS operations and hazardous material management. Our staff has developed Disaster Preparedness Programs for the City of Virginia Beach, City of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cape Coral, Florida, and Kauai and Honolulu, Hawaii. They prepare contracts for debris management, damage assessment, public information and traffic sign and signal restoration. They also prepare a damage assessment manual and assisted in the damage assessment training for area engineers as part of their annual certification. They also prepared the first survey on hurricane debris management ever distributed in the country specifically designed to solicit information from municipalities regarding disaster debris management. Our staff has also published several articles concerning municipalities, specifically regarding disaster preparedness.
