Genomatica is a widely-recognized bioengineering technology leader for the chemical industry. We develop biobased processes that enable our licensee partners to produce widely-used chemicals a ‘better way,’ from alternative feedstocks, with better economics and greater sustainability than using petroleum-based feedstocks.
Our GENO BDO™ process has produced thousands of tons of BDO; BASF and Novamont have licensed it; and Cargill offers production support services. The BDO produced with it continues to extend further into product value chains, with validation from firms including Invista (Lycra®spandex), BASF (PolyTHF®), DSM, Lanxess, Toray, and Far Eastern New Century.
Genomatica is using its integrated bioengineering platform and over 600 patents and applicationsto develop processes for additional chemicals, including butadiene and nylon intermediates. Our work is supported by partners including Versalis and Braskem, along with more than $100 million in industry support, as anticipated under current agreements.
We have raised over $125 million in financing from Alloy Ventures, Bright Capital, Cargill, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Mohr Davidow Ventures, TPG Biotech, VantagePoint Capital Partners, Versalis and Waste Management.
Genomatica’s recognition includes the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer award,Kirkpatrick Award (for ‘the most noteworthy chemical engineering technology commercialized in the world’), ICIS Top 40 Power Players, #1 Hottest four years in a row by Biofuels Digest,EPA Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award, Wall Street Journal Technology Innovation award, and Best Place to Work by The Scientist two years in a row.
Genomatica’s Bioengineering Solutions group helps industrial, food & beverage, agriculture, bio-pharmaceutical and nutraceutical companies develop and improve their products. Target products include nutraceuticals, probiotics, enzymes, flavors, fragrances, cosmetic ingredients, amino acids and more.
We bring customers our strength in bioengineering—an integrated, ‘whole-process’ approach that intertwines techno-economic analysis, biotechnology and engineering for complete solutions. We use our integrated bioengineering platform and expertise to help customers at any stage during development or commercialization, including:
