Gauging Systems Inc. is a privately held Texas Corporation, founded on May 6, 1983.
Gauging Systems Inc. (GSI) started in business as a tank gauging service and repair company, working on a variety of different manufacturers' tank gauging equipment and gauge technologies. With roots in field service, GSI gained exposure to problems within existing manufacturers' systems. From this exposure, GSI saw a need for products to retrofit or replace the original equipment with "better mousetraps" and acted upon it. Because of our early experience with other tank gauging systems (electrical standards and protocols), GSI is known for its systems integration products and capabilities.
Today, two of the four original founders are still active within the company. However, GSI's emphasis has moved towards the design and manufacture of new technology, to develop and provide more accurate measurement technologies, to provide innovative products that reduce the cost of ownership (Equipment, Cabling, Installation, and Maintenance), to provide products that increase benefits to our customers (plant safety, asset utilization, operating efficiency, data, throughput speed, system connectivity, etc.). We offer quality products for sale or lease at a fair market price.
Gauging Systems was the first tank gauging software manufacturer to qualify as a "Microsoft Certified Solution Provider" in 1995. Today, we are a "Microsoft Certified Partner", developing tank gauging software and other software applications for Microsoft Windows based Operating Systems, software that is expandable from a single user interface to enterprise based solutions, designed for the NET platform.
Gauging Systems is active in the development of more reliable and lower cost topologies. GSI introduced an Ethernet Topology using 10BASE-FL "Fiber Link" in 2000. The Ethernet 10BASE-FL topology provides electrical isolation of the bus, provides an off the shelf interface (Ethernet Hub), provides faster data throughput, is less expensive, and can provide expanded capabilities through the NET platform. GSI is also active in the BlueTooth SIG, Zigbee SIG, and IEEE Ethernet standards for wireless communications.
GSI Cellular was formed in 2002. GSI Cellular provides turn-key solutions for monitoring of data from remote sites using instruments integrated with Cellular RTU's. The RTU's communicate by Microburst™ technology over cellular control channels. We notify customers through their own dedicated home page or by e-mail, pager, or fax of an event. applications include Drop Box Notification (patened), Flood Indicator (patented), GPS Tracking and historical logging, Crude oil tank monitoring, Additive tank monitoing, Home heating oil / LPG monitoring, etc.
Gauging Systems Inc. (GSI) believes in servicing its customers needs. To that extent, GSI provides a wide range of services to its customers. The services we offer are based upon our experience in tank gauging over the last twenty years.
Starting as a field service repair company, GSI has not forgotten its roots in both field and bench repair service. GSI has contracts for the maintenance of every manufactured system and technology on the market over the last fifty years. Our field service staff is the most experienced and qualified in the industry.

Again, because of our field service experience, GSI started designing products to eliminate some of the problems we encountered, i.e., building better (mouse traps) tank gauging equipment. A good number of the problems that we encountered were a direct result of misapplication of technology, some were a misapplication due to the liquid measured, some were a direct result of improper installation, etc. From this experience, we developed application experience, product experience, proper installation techniques, and the ability to train people on tank gauging.
From our own engineering experience of hardware and software products (design, prototyping, lab testing, field testing, etc.), we have applied the same principles to manufacture custom made hardware. The same is true of our software products. Gauging Systems was the first tank gauging manufacturer and tank gauging software manufacturer to become a "Microsoft Certified Solution Provider" in 1995. We have maintained our status in the program with Microsoft since that time. GSI has fully qualified "Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers" developing the next generation of software solutions using the latest Windows operating systems and platforms.
However, it has been from our customers, engineering firms, and the government that we have learned the proper ways of conducting acceptance testing, both at the factory and fully configured in the field. Gauging Systems offers this service on all GSI manufactured hardware, software, or systems. We also offer Factory Acceptance Testing and Site Acceptance Testing of third party (tank gauging) systems to our mutual customers. This provides customers with a non-biased test facilitator with expertise in tank gauging, thus assuring the most stringent and thorough testing.
With any new system, both classroom and hands-on experience are needed. The most effective time for training is during the factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing, when both operations and maintenance groups can be trained on their respective responsibilities with the system. Gauging Systems offers this service, in addition to normal refresher classes on all facets of tank gauging.
