Garvin County Community Living Center, Inc. is a non-profit corporation committed to serving people with developmental disabilities. GCCLC, Inc. was established in 1982 to provide community-based residential and vocational training services for individuals with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to create an environment of support that will foster and encourage individual independence and self-worth. Our subsidiaries for vocational training are Valley Gifts & Awards, Valley Laser, Valley Market and the Recycling Center.Cathy Cash has led GCCLC, Inc. since its inception in 1982. She has grown the organization from a very small entity to the large corporation it is today.In 2011, Garvin County Community Living Center, Inc. was named the Pauls Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Corporate Leader of the Year for the work done throughout the community by the residents and vocational trainees. These individuals -- despite their disabilities -- work very hard to make Pauls Valley a better place to live.GCCLC provides a variety of vocational training and skill-building services for individuals served to allow personal growth and improve independence. These vocational skills are developed through our Job Coaching staff.Our clients work in a multitude of settings throughout the community – an outdoor market, an ink cartridge distribution business, a trophies and awards store (including Braille products), and a recycling center, as well as a workshop where the vocational trainees (people with developmental disabilities) work on packaging, bagging and shredding paper for local industries and businesses.GCCLC works to provide our clients with extra-curricular activities. These activities give them training, information, and support along with fun activities. These activities help them learn to: ,Speak up for themselves,Know their rights and responsibilities,Make decisions and solve problems,Stand together in unity, to take their rightful place in the worldGCCLC, Inc. provides and operates multiple Group Home facilities and an Assisted Living program for individuals who wish to live in their own home. Additionally, we provide two special growth opportunities periodically called People First and Travel Club.Education is important to GCCLC -- both the education of our staff and that of our clients. We provide continuing education for each group. Our staff participates in continuing education to care for our clients and the clients meet weekly during the school year for educational lessons centered around writing thank you notes, counting money, food preparation, dental hygiene, reading, pet care and more. At the end of the year, they take a trip and practice some of the skills they have learned.
