Gartenberg Jewelry, a presence on Main Street in historic downtown Chambersburg since 1946, is a family owned, “Full Service Jeweler”. Founded in 1993 by Andy Gartenberg, a native of Chambersburg, Gartenberg Jewelry is a continuation of a family tradition that began in Altoona, Pennsylvania in the 1900’s by Andy’s grandfather. Andy’s parents, Belle and Egon Gartenberg settled in Chambersburg in 1946 where they opened their store. Andy Gartenberg is a third generation jeweler who was taught the business by his parents Belle and Egon.

After working for the company that bought his parent’s store in 1971, Andy decided to open his own store and founded Gartenberg Jewelry applying the skills he had learned from his parents. The most valuable lesson was learned from his mother, how to treat a customer. “Customer service” is the most important aspect of Gartenberg Jewelry as a business. Andy does his best to assure every customer leaves with a smile.  Andy’s desire to continue the family tradition of “customer service” has been an inspiration to his staff. Andy and his expert staff pride themselves on the fact that they can find almost anything a customer wants.

The staff of Gartenberg Jewelry is special order specialists. Andy once ordered an item on Christmas Eve and delivered it Christmas Day to a grateful customer. Andy Gartenberg a Penn State University graduate grew up in downtown Chambersburg and like his Father is dedicated to its success. There is a tree in front of the store that is dedicated to the memory of his father, “Believer in Main Street”.
