The ECO plant for recycling waste containing hydrocarbons is the last link in the creation of the integrated recycling system, which is implemented by the "MOLDREC" Association, within the social-ecological project "Garda De Reciclare": Collection-Processing-Utilization.

"This project represents a promising start for the development of the recycling industry in Moldova by the fact that it fully offers all the services of collection, storage, treatment and recycling of waste. I consider this ecological initiative very opportune also because, along with reducing environmental pollution, it also promotes the culture of recycling and ecological education at the national level",says Ion Bulmaga, Superior Inspector at the Chisinau Ecological Agency.

Pyrolysis is a process of thermal transformation or decomposition of organic compounds or chemicals under high temperature and airless conditions. This process involves the simultaneous change of the chemical composition and the physical phase of the compound, and is irreversible. The word pyrolysis comes from the Greek language, where  pyr means  fire and  lysis  means  separation .

The recycling factory is located in the industrial area of ​​Vatra/Pruncul, Chisinau municipality, and has a recycling capacity of up to 3000 tons of waste annually, and the secondary raw material obtained from recycling is composed of liquid fuel, technical carbon, scrap metal. Later, they reenter the industrial circuit for the manufacture of new products or can be used as an alternative fuel, thus saving a large part of natural resources. The factory is equipped with modern equipment, according to international standards, and allows the recycling of waste containing hydrocarbons: used tires, plastic equipment and packaging, film, bituminous substances, etc.
