Who are we?
The GAD is part of the Gooi en Vecht region . That is the partnership of seven municipalities in the region. The GAD is the implementing organization for the separate collection of household waste. So that's what we do. For 115,000 households!
A total of about 130 people work at the GAD. Drivers, garbage men and women (loaders), but also people who make waste policy, supervision and enforcers, waste coaches and customer service. So we do a lot more than collecting waste. For example, we try to come up with better solutions for waste separation, for example. We provide advice on how to reduce residual waste, so that we can reuse more waste. We answer questions from residents and invite school classes to take a look at our separation stations. We are also affiliated with a number of (national) organizations such as the NVRD , Milieu Centraal and doemeemetpmd. And of course, as GAD we set a good example ourselves.
European Social Fund
The project 'Sustainable employability GAD' with the themes “Promoting a learning culture for workers, including the recognition of non-company-specific knowledge and skills” and “Stimulating internal mobility of workers, anticipating individual ambitions and development opportunities and guiding from employees to entrepreneurship ”has been made possible in part by the European Social Fund of the European Union.
What are we doing?
The GAD collects your household waste and stimulates waste separation. We do this with underground and above-ground containers, containers at home (which we also call wheelie bins) and four waste separation stations. We look at which container best suits the type of house you live in, the space around your house and the buildings in your neighborhood.
Tips and advice We
also want to make waste separation easier by providing good information and useful tips. We do this not only on this website, but also via e-mail, facebook, twitter and of course in personal conversations. Our waste coaches and supervision and enforcement employees go out every day to talk to you about separating waste and how to do this even better.
From collection to transport
We do not process all those collected raw materials and waste ourselves. We pick it up and prepare it for transport. The raw materials (such as organic waste / food scraps, plastic / cans / drink cartons, paper / cardboard, textiles, oils / fats) go to companies that process them, so that new products can be made from them. The residual waste goes to a waste incineration plant.
Waste policy
We would almost forget to say it, but we also make 'waste policy'. Simply put: we are constantly thinking about how we can collect your waste as efficiently as possible, with the greatest possible environmental benefit and without increasing costs for you. We do not only look at today and tomorrow, but also and especially at the future.
Why actually?
The municipalities of Blaricum, Gooise Meren, Hilversum, Huizen, Laren, Weesp and Wijdemeren strive for a sustainable society. They have appointed the GAD to collect the household waste from residents. We want to contribute to this by collecting your waste separately.
By properly separating your waste, you ensure that manufacturers can make new products from it. Your waste then becomes a reusable raw material. If there are many of these raw materials, manufacturers need to use fewer new raw materials from nature and the soil. By dealing with your waste in this way, you also help to make the mountain of residual waste smaller. That is very important, because residual waste is incinerated and that puts an extra burden on our planet.
