We are an Italian company operating for several decades in the production of polyester and polypropylene staples for the main sectors of application, and with an even longer tradition in the textile field.

Our history

1850

The Frana family has been active in the textile sector since the mid-19th century and appears for the first time in the official registers as “Manifattura F.lli Frana”.

1920

The family business is mainly dedicated to the production and trade of mattress wool.

1955

Filatura F.lli Frana Srl is established with headquarters in Gandino (BG) which starts the production and trade of wool blankets, which are then exported all over the world.

1972

Giulio and Mario Frana take control of the family business - in which they are still active today. The first extrusion plant is installed for the transformation of polypropylene granules into thermo-fixed staple, used to produce bedspreads, blankets and plaids.

1980

The headquarters of all the activities are transferred to Casnigo (BG) and Frana SpA - focused on the production of blankets - and Polifibre SpA, which instead deals with the production of polypropylene staple, are set up. The two company branches thus constituted guarantee full control over the entire production process, from the raw material to the finished product.

1984

Innovation and cutting-edge technology have been the secret of the company's success for years and in 1984 a new plant for the production of polypropylene staple was installed.

1998

Polifibre SpA builds a new plant which also introduces the production of polyester staple.

1999

Frana SpA and Polifibre SpA come under the new name Frana Polifibre SpA and from now on the company focuses entirely on the production of polyester and polypropylene fibers.
