One hundred thirteen years ago in Portland, Oregon, W.O. Fouch decided to go into the electric business. In those early years, he installed and repaired doorbells and lighting systems for the then–fledgling electrical industry. As electricity became more mainstream, Mr. Fouch’s business grew, and soon he found it increasingly difficult to get the specialized fittings he needed shipped in from eastern cities. He decided to make them himself, and in doing so, set his small company on track toward becoming one of the Northwest’s premiere providers of electrical manufacturing equipment.
Since its first big break outfitting transport ships for the Spanish–American war, Fouch has been serving Portland for more than a century. In fact, some of Fouch’s earliest work is still in use at the US Custom House in Portland — built in 1900 — a testament to the quality and value of Fouch's products.
Throughout its history, Fouch has consistently demonstrated a core set of values, which reflect its commitment to innovation and quality craftsmanship. These values have supported Fouch through more than a century of growth, including seven ownership transitions and as many addresses. Today, Fouch’s current owners continue to uphold W.O.’s original ideals and vision.
