The history of Fustameria Fontana begins with a name and a date. The year is 1943, in the midst of the Second World War; the name is that of Sincero Fontana, who in Milan, in the Affori area, opens a business of regenerating - entirely by hand - wooden barrels, and then selling them. These were the years of conflict, and raw materials were scarce: this created an interesting market for Fontana's business, which progressively expanded.

The next stage is towards the end of the 1940s, when the Italian industry is restarting and developing, and above all the chemical sector has an ever-increasing need for tinplate containers of all sizes. Steel is a material of greater value, and easier to sell even when used, and Fontana moves its business to the treatment of metal bins used by the chemical industries, which it regenerates for a new use, eliminating all traces of any substance they originally contained.

The industry had ever-increasing demands, and so the moment arrived - at the beginning of the 1980s - in which Fontana's activity had to expand significantly. It was in 1982 that the growth experienced an important moment, with the foundation of a new company - Fontana Sincero and sons - which also included Valentino, Giorgio and Giusto, who opened a new office in Concorezzo together with their father. But only a few years pass before the artisanal work procedures applied for many decades now prove to be too slow, however accurate, to be able to satisfy the needs of customers who now require to manage very high volumes of packaging. In 1985 the Fontana company moved to Cambiago, to a new headquarters where the complete automation of the processes began, which is still a distinctive feature today.
