Our Mission

We love our community! ​

Fibers of the Earth was founded in August 2008 to raise funds for Camp Create, a local theatre and visual arts camp for special needs children. This wonderful fundraising opportunity was so successful that we decided to expand our services to offer them to other organizations, charities and schools in our area.

Our mission is to promote the very best in recycling and community ideals and operate an ecologically sound business. Our focus is on helping support our local community and ecology.

We accomplish these goals by:

​ Making sure that the clothing we collect supports organizations that are making a direct difference in our communities. We donate to and support charities and organizations that are locally based and keep the majority of their charitable work and resources in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Placing clothing collection drop boxes throughout the community and host clothing drives to provide a convenient and easy way for people in our community to recycle their unwanted clothing while supporting charities that they care about.

​Reusing or recycling all the clothing and textiles we collect. The majority of items we collect are reused exactly as is and are made available for resale to those in need of it. If an item is not reusable in its current form, (stained, torn, etc.) it is transformed into reusable and valuable products. This prevents used clothing from entering our landfills.

Through this model, we are able to provide a sustainable textile recycling program and provide consistent revenue for the charities we work with.
