History

The history of Fardem Packaging BV goes back to 1884. LJ Heijmeijer started at 't Marken in Edam with the trade in and manufacture of jute cloth and jute bags. In 1950, paper was added. Then the production of multi-wall paper bags was started. This activity was sold in 1989 to the Finnish UPM. The foundations for the polyethylene (PE) film business were laid in 1958. A start was made with the extruding of polyethylene film and the production of polyethylene industrial bags , liners and packaging film .

Fardem Packaging BV has since grown into a leading company in the European packaging industry. In 1992 Fardem Packaging BV moved into new factory premises on the West industrial estate in Edam. A low-noise, energy-efficient factory, which also includes climate control.

During the long history of Fardem Packaging BV we have had several owners, including DSM. Since 1 January 2012, Fardem Packaging BV has been part of Oerlemans Packaging BV in Genderen.

The market consists of business to business markets for food, non-food, packaging industry, wholesale, retail and horticulture supply, worldwide.
