History
FSG was established in 1954. Fana Kommunale Steinknuseverk, as it was then called, was wholly owned by the former Fana Municipality. In connection with the amalgamation of municipalities in 1972, the company, Fana Steinknuseverk, was added as a separate department in Bergen Municipality.
At the end of 1998, after a process that involved significant organizational and structural changes, the company changed its name to Fana Stein & Gjenvinning (FSG). The business was at this time a special municipal company.
In 1999, FSG was transformed into a limited company. Until the business was sold in March 2002, FSG AS was owned by Bergen municipality. From FSG AS, business areas were separated which became three different companies: Fana Stein AS, Norscrap AS and Ragn Sells avd. Bergen.
From 1 January 2015, Fana Stein AS was merged back into Fana Stein og Gjenvinning AS.
Information
FSG AS currently has the following ownership structure in a joint company: FSG Holding AS.
• Ragn Sells AS 50%
• Hellik Teigen AS 50%
The operation in Stendafjellet is divided into two main parts: Stone extraction / stone crushing plant and landfill for contaminated masses.
Stone extraction / crushing plant deals with quarrying of rocks and production of crushed masses underground. In addition to the production of crushed stone, the natural products cast sand and bark are also sold. The products are delivered mainly for public and private purposes in the Bergen region.
The landfill part's business idea is to utilize the mountain halls for a landfill for contaminated masses after stones have been blasted out and transported to crushing plants. FSG AS aims to receive contaminated masses for proper treatment and disposal, in order to prevent this type of masses from polluting the environment. FSG AS's vision is to have the country's best solution for contaminated pulp and selected fractions of hazardous waste. FSG AS has a license to accept contaminated soil and loose materials in class 1 up to and including class 5, as well as certain types of hazardous waste.
