Ergon A&E is considered The Resource in the asphalt industry. Not only do we market liquid paving asphalts, but we also manufacture and market a wide variety of advanced asphalt products. Our eSeries line of pavement preservation and maintenance products protect and extend the service lives of roads for a number of years, reducing the need for costly repairs and stretching agency dollars. On the global front, Ergon A&E is the world’s leading manufacturer of packaged pavement preservation products and related road maintenance equipment. Our protective coatings division manufactures and distributes engineered surface protection systems for industrial infrastructure.

Our History

Ergon A&E operates under the Asphalt & Emulsions segment of Ergon, Inc., a family-owned and operated company built to serve industries essential to global manufacturing and infrastructure.

From the Refinery to the Road

In 1978, Ergon built a crude oil refinery in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Residue from processing, also called asphalt flux, was used to manufacture asphalt products at the refinery. As our crude oil processing capacity increased, so did asphalt production capabilities. This led to the need to distinguish Ergon’s asphalt relations from the refining business.

We sold our first load of asphalt in 1980, and on September 23, 1982, Ergon A&E incorporated and has since grown to become the largest asphalt marketer in North America.
