Environmental Science International [ESI] is a locally-owned, full-service environmental consulting firm with our offices in Kailua. We specialize in environmental assessment, investigation, remediation, planning, and management. Our focus is on the balance between preservation of the environmental integrity of the land and support to industry and development. Our clients include land owners, industrial firms, petroleum companies, developers, federal and state government agencies, law firms, real estate companies, construction and engineering companies, contractors, and private home owners.
Our core values reflect a corporate philosophy centered on honesty, quality, and respect for the environment. Our goal is to provide clients with superior-quality services, and we are committed to treating our clients, the regulated community, and the regulatory community with honesty and integrity.
We believe in and have been successful at developing long-term relationships with our clients. In many respects, we view our client relationships as partnerships. It is our responsibility and obligation to act in their best interests.
We value our relationship with state regulators. We have enjoyed working closely with State of Hawaiʻi Department of Health personnel for many years and have developed relationships that are built on mutual respect and trust. It is our responsibility to work with them honestly and to maintain that trust and respect.
Having strong local ties, we endeavor to balance the realities of modern development and industry with traditional values of stewardship of the land.
We are a locally-owned and locally-managed small business that was incorporated in Hawaiʻi in 2001. Starting with three employees, we opened our first office in Kailua. Over time, we moved into a series of larger offices, all in Kailua, to accommodate our growing staff, finally settling into our current office space in 2009.
Initially, our work came from the commercial and industrial sectors. Following our acceptance into the Small Business Administration 8(a) program in 2003, our work was nearly evenly divided between federal contracts and the commercial and industrial sectors. In 2012, we graduated successfully from the 8(a) program.
From our original three employees, we have continued to grow and currently have 14 full-time employees. Our work also expanded and has come to include contracts from the Hawaiʻi State government in addition to our federal, commercial, and industrial clients.
