Construction & Demolition

home-construction-demolition-wasteRecycling in the Construction and Demolition industry has become more important and more complex. C&D waste is often hard to recycle because it is made up of so many different materials – ranging from soil to plasterboard. Around 30 million tonnes of construction waste goes to landfill each year and contractors are being encouraged to reduce waste and be more resource efficient.

New legislation makes it essential you make it a key part of your project plan. Without it, even the best-managed sites will be vulnerable to fines and sanctions, while efficient sites can qualify for special funding. There are practical benefits too. For example, recycled rubble can replace up to 50% of quarried material in pre-cast concrete, without reducing strength. will meet up to 30% of the costs of new plant equipment, land and infrastructure.

Thankfully, EMS will help. We have C & D customers across the globes that know they can depend on EMS to provide what they need, when they need it.

Municipal Solid Waste

home-municipal-solid-wasteThe EU aims to recycle 50% of MSW by 2020, but according to reports, the UK’s is trailing behind the world leaders, with a recycling rate of just 39%. That puts the UK in 11th place in the EU’s league table, and ensures that further pressure will be placed on the MSW sector.

There are excellent economic benefits for recycling properly, including recovering saleable material such as RDF and saving on disposal costs. And with EMS you have the ideal recycling partner. No other organisation offers the choice and expertise that lets you find the perfect system for you – from concept right through to installation.

Green Waste

home-green-wasteGreen waste contributes a large proportion of all waste. Leaves, grass & hedge cuttings account to 20% – 30% of all solid waste currently disposed of. Currently, much biodegradable waste in the UK is filling up landfill sites. This can be especially damaging to the environment: green waste in landfill sites does not break down through natural composting, resulting in the release of noxious gases such as methane, a dangerous greenhouse gas.

There are also great financial benefits in recycling green waste properly, including recovering saleable material and saving on disposal costs. Particularly in the green waste sector, where composting produces a free soil conditioner, improving soil quality and helping plants flourish.

Co-mingled Waste

home-comingled-wasteCo-mingled recycling involves the process of mixed recyclables being placed in a single waste stream. EMS designs turnkey co-mingled systems incorporating manual, mechanical and automated sorting techniques. In these circumstances, we can to supply the most efficient and innovative co-mingled recycling systems, thereby minimising contamination and maximising the volume of valuable material our clients can recover.

Our co-mingled systems will be tailored to your business so that it complements your workload and the nature of the waste involved. They are customised to the facility waste management process and your way of working so that you get maximum value and efficiency.

Commercial & Industrial

home-commercial-industrial-wasteThe commercial and industrial sector keeps reducing the amount of waste going to landfill, but it still accounts for more than double the waste coming from the household stream. Authorities and businesses are concerned about the rapidly rising costs due to because of limited landfill space, and the lack of alternative facilities. So, with legislation working hard to minimise waste, there is a lot of scrutiny on C&I businesses.

Whatever source your waste comes from, EMS will design and install a system that minimises your waste and expense, and maximises the amount of valuable material for resale. In many cases we can help customers recoup up to 100% of valuable material from waste, as well as slashing the amount paid in disposal.
